Cobra CB antenna issues?
I recently received a cobra 29 ltd bt cb radio as a birthday gift. I also got the radioshack 102" whip antenna. I tried the antenna on my small magnetic mount antenna and it worked fine. Once I put the 102" whip antenna on the antenna warning light turn on once i key in on the radio. I have no clue what could be causing this problem and how the antenna warning light works. Can someone help me?
It might be telling you that it doesn't have a good solid ground connection to the antenna and that's why it the warning light is on but be sure the antenna is connected to the cb right and always isolate the cb's ground and feed it 12 volt from a separate feed that is fused.
Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way I use to fix cb radios for a fleet of vehicles and most of their problems were related to dirt or bad connections especially bad grounds for the antennas.
