What is the difference between vhf and uhf hand held radios?
What has the best reception and the less static?
Generally, for two way communications, both bands use similar narrowband FM subsystems, so will perform almost identical with sound quality etc.
For a given power, VHF has the better range, but requires a bigger antenna. Likewise, any interference source in the VHF range would have a better chance of propagating and ergo being received.
UHF has less range, uses a smaller antenna (or the room for an antenna for more gain). Interference sources are less likely to propagate on UHF.
