What frequencies on the VHF and UHF band are legal to transmit on?
I have a dual band VHF and UHF radio that I want to use for business. However, it has a very very broad range of transmission. It goes all the way down to the 130's which I know are usually used by airports I believe, and it goes pretty high too. It will transmit on the NOAA weather frequencies, it will transmit on UHF and VHF police frequencies. My question is, what is my frequency range which I can transmit on without interfering with anything like airports or fire or police? I have had other business radios before and I understand the whole thing where basically you need a license to transmit on the frequency anyway, but to be honest, all the businesses around me use business radios that require a license and they dont have one. So what VHF frequency range and UHF frequency range am I safe transmitting on? What frequency ranges were basically designated for walkie talkies and business radios?
You'd do better to name the radio you have. There are amateur models that don't go high enough for commercial. Just about anything between 450 and 512 mhz is commercial as is 150 to 174 mhz.
144-148 & 430-450Mhz are the amateur bands.
