Is it immoral to Cut Pex and Bite the Shark at the same time?
I have recently bought a Sharkbite 3/4 in. brass elbow to use to connect two 3/4 in. Pex tubes that now connect poorly at a right angle 4 inches above my 80 gallon Marathon electric hot water heater--the hot water line to the house. The two tubes were connected and crimped poorly and leak; I plan to use a tube cutter and then check for rough edges and then use the Shark bite...which I have never used before. I have the declamping clip if I need it...Does anyone know if these Shark bites can handle the hot water and pressure, and is it okay to cut the pex with a fairly cheap cutting tool? Any glitches I should be on the lookout for? First time I have done this...
I know from ex partner who used to do a lot of plumbing that shark bites are good and will stand pressure if applied correctly.
Make sure no burrs are on after cutting tube, a common fault..
Just cut pex carefully , it's a common error from DIY'ers to make mistake in connection so just be careful, and take time in connecting then if it fails ..time to call in pro's..Good Luck♥
