What transformer should I get for a standard car radio?
As part of an A-level product design course, I need to power a standard 12v car radio... out of a car. I need a transformer to do this, Im assuming a 12v transformer.
But Im not sure about the current. Do I need a regulated transformer? Unregulated? 1200mA? I'm confused. Please help.

Car radios run off 12 DC (a battery). To run it from an AC source you need a well regulated AC to DC converter, or "power supply". It must have low ripple of there will be a nasty hum. (50/60/100/120Hz) The current required depends on the power output you want - lots of current needed for a very loud speaker set.
