Morse Key Military

I have a prc 77 military manpack radio,Is there a way I can hook up a telegraph key to the audio jack?

I want to use morse code. I know that if I take a screwdriver and touch the 5 o'clock pin and ground it out on the side,it transmits without audio.Could a telegraph key be rigged to this to send and recieve the morse code?

yes, this would be the same as keying the mic.

The PRC77 is a phone radio, it does not have a sidetone generator, so just keying the transmitter off and on won't sound like anything to the other guy. You need to send a 850 - 1000 hz tone in SSB.
