Something is wrong with my laptop, Machine_Exception_Error?
Dear Readers,
For about 2 days ago i posted a question at http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=ArU6BA6xxm03Wmfkt6K6rO3sy6IX?qid=20070115134428AAPYJ9i. I contacted the computer administrator at my school and he said that it probably is the 4 antivirus scanners conflicting each other or it is the immense amount of space that i have (60 gb of memory, 5gb free). But, today, I tried to turn on my computer and I got the blue screen saying:
Machine_Check_Exception
Technical Info:
***Stop: 0x0000009C (0x00000004, 0x8054D370, 0xB2000000,0x00070F0F)
Beginning dump of physical memory
I turned off my computer by use of the power button and my computer would not turn on. I could only hear a sound and in morse code it woud be - - - click click, repeating over and over again. What should I do?
All drives need at least 15% free space for scratch space. At <8%, the computer is thrashing, writing stuff that belongs on disk to Ram , stuff that belongs on Ram to disk. too much disk use causes the drive to crash. Powering off with the power button probably corrupted the boot sector. the sound you hear is the disk drive trying to find the boot sector, which isn't there.
fix: reformat and restore partitions using original disks. restore data from backups
