Power leak or short? My electric meter keeps running with all appliances and lights off?
I have isolated the leak to a circuit that feeds the lights in the kitchen, bathroom and the doorbell and one outlet. I disconnected power from the doorbell, turned off all the lights but the meter still keeps running. The meter stops if I turn the sub circuit breaker off. What seems to be the problem?
I pulled the plug on all the appliances and turned off the circuit breaker for the hot water. The meter does not run with all the sub circuit breakers on other than the circuit for the kitchen, bathroom and doorbell.
Scooby is right, however if you trip all the breakers & the master if there is one in your breaker box & your meter still runs call the Utility co.
Maintaining the meter is their responsibility.
Had similar problem in an apartment.
Turns out my electrical service was tapped & was paying for a small illegal apt in basement.
Hope this is not the case
