Kenwood Mobile Radio

Question about my two-way mobile radio?

I have an older Kenwood radio. a TK-705D I believe. what does the QT and the DQT stand for? I reprogrammed the channels myself it will receive just fine but now it will not transmit. It transmitted fine before I rearranged the channels. I have all the frequencies correctly set. It will kind of transmit now, but not to far. I have a scanner that can receive the transmissions when it is right next to the unit, but dispatch or units cannot hear it. It is a mobile car unit and I have a quarter whip antenna attached to the unit. There are a few settings that I don't understand with it. This includes the QT or DQT setting mode. Not sure which I should set these QT on, DQT on or both off. If QT is on what is the Hz I should set it to. The example shows 67.0Hz. If I use the DQT there is a code n.000. Then it will ask for the same questions for the transmit for the same channnel. Any help?
I know this isn't the right categorie, but I couldn't find a better one to put it in.

Quiet Talk (QT) and Digital Quiet Talk (DQT) are functions that reject undesired signals on your channel. You will hear a call only when you receive a signal that contains a matching QT tone or DQT code. If a call containing a different tone or code is received, squelch will not open and will not hear the call. Likewise, when transmitting using QT and DQT, the receiving station must have a matching tone or code to hear your call.
