purchasing radio transcievers?
i currently have a radio scanner and its great picks up most chanels, i want to purchase a handheld radio that can transmit and recive on all chanels (a transceiver), i want to be able to use it for flying (light aircraft) and also as a cb radio for 4wdriving, any suggestions? i can seem to find any that are able to do this, they are either locked to av bands or locked to public? any help would be appreciated

There is no such thing.
First off, radio transmitters (and ergo transceivers), and their antenna, are built to work only in specific bands for peak performance. A wide band transceiver and antenna would suffer
Second, you need different sorts of licenses to use different bands.
It is not so much they are "locked", it is just that they are built for specific bands, modes, and uses.
For your flying, get an air band transceiver.
For off roading, just get a plain CB radio or FRS radio.
