What is the popularity of Short Wave Radio usage in the USA compared to other parts of the world?
What is the popularity of commercial (non-ham) Short Wave Radio usage in the USA compared to other parts of the world?
Does anyone know how overall sales of Short Wave receivers in the USA compares to that of other areas?
Perhaps emailing the Yaesu and Icom importer or main dealer would be the best way to get figures of rise or falls in sales of SW radios - thats IF they would tell you.
In general though popularity of SW has dropped with each step of introduction of more modern services eg - local radio , tv , internet and internet streaming audio.
This does not mean that shortwave is dead.
In less developed countries SW is still a very much valued service as it can reach deep inside countries where broadband internet has not.
In the US and other western countries there still is a following group of listeners that still appreciate international shortwave broadcasts.
