Ham Radio Repairs

Whats a good hobby for me a 12 year old boy?

I play video games A lot but i should start doing other things i like Airsoft and paintball but i need something that i can do by my self or with my dad i was thinking about getting a ATV and repairing that but its too much money also RC stuff is also too much and trains are kinda dorky i don't like scouts and airsoft nobody else has a gun plus its banned here (damn old people) not karate or any other sport I'm already doing a sport don't need any more commitments like that and not ham radio (sounds boring) so yeah anything?

Skateboarding was good for my son at your age, he also enjoyed leaning the basics of computer programming, BMX (ok this was some years ago) and RC racing. We found we could do RC cars pretty reasonably by buying used equipment at first and fixing it up. Making / detailing interesting bodies was a lot of fun for me -- so it became a family affair - we all played. We found a track within a reasonable drive and raced one night a week - and practiced on the others.

As far as doing something quieter - ask your folks to take you to one of the large hobby stores - Michaels, AC Moore, Hobby Lobby, Jo-Ann Etc. - tell them you will need some time - an hour or so. Now go and wander around - go up and down all of the aisles and look at the supplies for different hobbies. Woodworking, leatherworking, paper crafting (cards, scrapbooks, etc.) jewelry making, art - drawing, painting, -- fiber art - knitting, crochet, long-stitch, etc. There are dozens of different crafts in those stores. When you see something that looks kind of neat, get a beginners kit and try it out! It might be the beginning of fun that you never knew you wanted to do!
