What is a simple, quality, ham radio?
First, I have my license. I do not have a portable radio however. I am involved in equine evacuation and need one for emergencies and when I am out on the trails alone. I will not be using it for recreational conversation so I don't need a lot of bells and whistles and don't need to talk to New Zealand. Suggestions?
Yaesu makes good handhelds that run up to 5 watts, and are often available under $200. Google "handheld ham radio" and see what comes up. (I got about 300,000 hits!)
