how does a dipole antenna work?
we often see that a dipole or hertzian antenna is only connected at one end ,if their is no sink to that current flowing in it how will the current even flow in it,how will it work
a half wave dipole is normally fed at the middle which is a low impedance point around 72 ohms. when a half wave resonant dipole is fed at the end, there is a bad mismatch (it is a high impedance point) and it might be difficult to transmit with that antenna depending on the length of the feed line which becomes part of the antenna. if the feedline were 1/4 wavelength then the feedline would act as an impedance transformer and it might provide a very good match for transmitting.
