building my own cb antenna on my porch?
wanna build a working cb antenna on my porch i live in a apartment building so i can not do anything on the roof overly large i have read about dipoles and inverted vee dipoles but i have not had no progress never get any gain or hardly any static so any one got any tips or ideas for me please. i looking to a antenna that wont need a ground plane but don't know how so please ground plane or not just give me your ideas
you will need a ground plane. CB is Vertical polarized. An inverted Vee or a horizontal dipole are not vertical!
You need an 18 foot long antenna, that is 9 feet up from the feed point and 9 feet down from the feed point. This is also a 75 ohm antenna. You need to add a balun to keep potential problems at bay.
The ground plane is added instead of the downward half of the dipole. By adjusting the angle on the ground plane will adjust the feed point impedance.
CB 1/4 wave is 108 inches.
If you want to make a ground independant antenna, you need to build a matching network at the feed point.
