Question about setting up a CB base station?
Ok so I have been messing with car CBs for a while and I wana set up a base station I have a Firestick mirror mount antenna so I screwed the bracket to the windowsill and ran a ground wire from the bracket to the radiator I turn the radio on and I get static and the SWR needle jumps like it should but the static just gets deeper I have tried 4 diffrent radios and 2 antenna nothing what am i doing wrong if you would give me a step by step instructions to setting up a Firestick Mirror mount antenna as a Base thanks your fellow CBer Avery (cb call== Iggy pop==0
How do I ground my radio
A Base antenna would be your best bet. If your in a house that has a chimney, Radio shack has chimney mount brackets, mount that to your chimney and then also get a grounding rod and grounding wire. Pound the grounding rod into the ground and attach the wire from the antenna to the grounging rod should take care of your problem. A mobile antenna does not work as well on a house as a base antenna would.
