getting error tones on motorola P1225 portable radio when keying up with PTT.?

I have a Motorola Radius P1225 which is giving an error code every time you press the PTT button. It also tones an error code every so often which does appear to be a dead battery cause the battery has been charged.

It could be a low battery tone, but that doesn't mean a low battery. Motorola has a habit of sending those out with nimh batteries, but they set the low battery alarm for nicads. Nimh batteries have a little lower voltage when you key them up so the low battery alarm chirps. You'd have to have the tuning software and cable to adjust it.
One useful tool if a battery simulator that runs off a power supply. I usually make one by ripping the guts out of an old battery and running wires to the terminals. That way you can run the radio from a good power supply to check it out.
