Can I damage my transmitter if I get a BNC to F adapter?
I purchased a 7 watt FM transmitter recently, and it didn't come with an antenna. So, I then bought a BNC to F (cable tv type plugin) converter to I could use a cable tv cord with an antenna at the end. If I use it like this, can my transmitter get damaged? I am just using regular coaxial cable to come from the transmitter to the antenna I have for a TV. Thanks.
Using a BNC to F type connector and cable tv cord is all wrong as both will cause a mismatch (a high Standing Wave Ratio or SWR) between the transmitter and the antenna. Transmitters have a 50Ω output and you should use 50Ω cable such as RG58, which is the same diameter as cable tv cord as opposed to RG8 which is twice as thick, and solder a 50Ω BNC connector directly to it. Don't use an adapter and an F-Connector.
